Suspected members of Awawa cult group were today Monday 7th paraded by the police in Lagos
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni on Monday paraded over 76 suspected criminals for committing various offences in Lagos State and its environs.
The suspects paraded included the notorious members of Awawa cult group, five-man robbery gang who specializes in snatching vehicles, fake vehicle and plate number documents syndicate popularly known as Oluwole, and suspected armed robbers.
According to Owoseni, the police made a modest achievement in other areas apart from successfully rescuing the abducted school girls in Ikorodu.
He stated that the police arrested 26 armed robbery suspects, 50 suspected cultists and other suspects for allegedly Committing various offences in the state.
He also said the police recovered 11 arms, 49 cartridges and 20 vehicles of various brands.
Owoseni also paraded seven other suspects who specialized in forging and printing fake documents.
They are Shakiru Atoyebi, Mojeed Ahmed, Akeem Adeyemi, Usman Olajide, Sara Otun, Gbenga Olawole and Okanlawon Abdullahi.
Items recovered from them include 5,000 pieces of General Trust Insurance company papers, 1,000 copies Mutual Benefit Assurance papers, allocations registration papers and over 2,000 copies of vehicle documents, plate number and rubber stamps.
The suspects were also found with 2,500 copies of Kano State Internal Revenue documents and many other fake documents.
Owoseni thanked members of the public for their support and noted that crimes have reduced in the State due to operational strategy, logistics and moral support given to the command by the state government.
He said suspected criminal hideouts are being intensified by the cooperation and collaboration with other security agencies to reduce any form of crime and criminalities in the state.
